Aims & Objects

    The aims and objects of AIPP are:

  1. To provide a common platform to the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions in India (at the village, block and district levels).
  2. To draw strength from mutual association and become effective instruments of democracy and national development.
  3. To discuss common problems and find solutions from one another's experiences and advance towards common goals.
  4. To develop a national outlook rather than become parochial by remaining isod from one another.
  5. To create awareness and educated opinion for effective participation of Gram-Sabha members in the process of self-government.
  6. To promote the spirit of community, self-help, mutual aid, and socio-economic development among rural folk.
  7. To undertake training program for elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and unemployed youths at village level.
  8. To conduct and establish training schools or institutes.
  9. To co-operate with the Central and State Governments, educational institutions and voluntary organizations to achieve the above objective.
  10. To carry on study and research in subjects red to Panchayati Raj in particular and rural life and problems in general.
  11. To conduct surveys, evaluation projects, field investigations etc.
  12. To prepare and publish books, pamphlets, periodicals, papers etc.
  13. To do everything else that might be necessary in order to further and achieve these objects of AIPP.
  14. To co-ordinate the activities of State Panchayat Parishad.

ACTIVITIES:
AIPP is involved in research, imparting training and production of literature including a monthly journal and playing an important role in promoting the Panchayati Raj system. AIPP is assisting the Panchayati Raj Institutions in solving their problems by approaching the concerned authorities in the Central and the State Governments. It holds National, Regional and State level conferences and conducting various training programs. AIPP is evolving many independent programs to meet its objectives. Some of these are:

  1. Conferences at the National Level to highlight and develop solutions to the problems faced by Panchayati Raj Institutions.
  2. Conferences and workshops at the State level and District level to strengthen the organization and provide orientation.
  3. Capacity building training programs at different levels to assist office bearers and officials involved in the Panchayati Raj system.
  4. Publication of books to assist and train persons in the functioning of the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
  5. National Seminars on socially relevant topics e.g. Family Planning and Agriculture, Environment, Water conservation and harvesting, non-conventional energy sources, unemployment etc.
  6. Implementation of various schemes relating to agriculture and rural development and other relevant schemes at the Regional, State and Zilla Parishad levels.
  7. Youth Conferences at State level.
  8. Recognition and award of prizes for performance of Zilla Parishads, Block Parishads and Village Panchayats.
  9. Publication of "Panchayat Sandesh" to extend and educate the people about the rural development programmes and the successful stories.
  10. To hold meetings and seminars on 21st January (the birthday of Shri Lal Singh Tyagi, the Founder General Secretary AIPP) 19th February (Birthday of Shri Balwant Rai Mehta, the first President of AIPP), 20th August (Birthday of Shri Rajiv Gandhi, known for being initiator of the 73rd Amendment), 2nd October (Birthday of Gandhi ji) and 11th October (Birthday of Lok Nayak Shri Jai Prakash Narayan) each year.
